ACTIVITY 1: WELL DRESSING (by Stefanie Creer)
A well dressing is a very old Derbyshire tradition. People make pictures of scenes from the Bible with flowers. The flowers are sunk into clay. These pictures are then placed by the village well and the priest says a prayer to bless the well, asking God to ensure we always have fresh water.
SUMMER TIME!
Summer time and summer holidays are here! In Spain children finish the school on June the 21st, and then we'll have two free months! But before that, we want to learn some English summer traditions, and of course, we'll say a "see you soon" to our friends.

ACTIVITY 4: EASTER EGGS
Both English and Spanish children made some Easter eggs, but they were not made of chocolate!
ACTIVITY 3: "BAJADA DEL ANGEL" DRAWINGS
After receiving the English Easter cards, Spanish children made some drawings about our typical tradition and we sent them to England.
ACTIVITY 2: ENGLISH EASTER CARDS
Here we have some pictures of the Spanich children after receiving the English Easter cards. They were really thrilled!!!!

SPRING – FLOWERS – HATS – RABBITS - EASTER
EASTER TIME (by Stefanie Creer)
In England we have the Catholic tradition which is similar to what happens in Spain apart from the religious parades with statues. We have all the same masses and prayers but the Church of England is slightly different. The different traditions are probably due to the weather and the fact that traditionally the Catholics are not the national religion.
Children celebrate easter by receiving chocolate Easter eggs. Easter is linked with spring and the egg is an emblem of the new life that Christ brought to us through his resurrection, the emblem of the tomb Christ was put in and the new life in the world in Spring with plants and flowers coming back to life and baby animals being born. Children write Easter poems about new life in spring and Easter egg hunts on Easter day take place. Parents and teachers at school hide chocolate eggs around the house and garden or around the school and give out clues to where they are and children read the clues to find the eggs. What we usually do is put the children into groups of five to hunt together and provide a basket with five small eggs in it. Also children decorate eggs and we hold an Easter egg competition where the winner wins a chocolate egg. An Easter bonnet or hat competition is also another way we celebrate with all children designing a hat that has to have some flowers on it and the children parade around and a winner is chosen who will receive a chocolate egg.

CHINESE NEW YEAR
Our friends from Unstone celebrate the Chinese New Year, so they're learning this song:

The Spanish children are also going to learn it (or, at least; they'll try!)

PEACE DAY
Tomorrow we are going to celebrate the "Peace Day". So here you have a nice poem written by Gloria Fuertes.
POESÍA PARA LA PAZ
SÓLO TRES LETRAS,
TRES LETRAS NADA MÁS,
SÓLO TRES LETRAS
QUE PARA SIEMPRE APRENDERÁS.
SÓLO TRES LETRAS PARA ESCRIBIR PAZ.
LA P, LA A Y LA Z, SÓLO TRES LETRAS.
SÓLO TRES LETRAS,
TRES LETRAS NADA MÁS,
PARA CANTAR PAZ
PARA HACER PAZ.
LA P DE PUEBLO
LA A DE AMAR
Y LA Z DE ZAFIRO Y DE ZAGAL.
DE ZAFIRO POR UN MUNDO AZUL
Y DE ZAGAL POR UN NIÑO COMO TÚ.
