ACTIVITY 5: LA PLAZA TIENE UNA TORRE

This is a popular Spanish poem written by Antonio Machado. We use them when children are laerning to read. They also learn the poem by heart.
In this activity we have created a version of the poem that uses words and images. These images are well-known works of art and pictures from our town.

ACTIVITY 4: ENGLISH TRADITIONS (by Stefanie Creer)

I have just been taking assembly and discussing our own English traditions.

I think most of them are what you already know. But did you know we eat
Turkey and sprouts for our Christmas dinner and finish with a Christmas
pudding
with dried fruit and brandy with coins hidden in it covered with a
sweet white custard? We then eat "Mince pies" which are not mince meat as in
real meat but dried fruit and suet .

We believe in Father Christmas not Santa Claus - that is for Americans. He
is nothing to do with Saint Nicholas.

The day after Christmas-26th is called "Boxing day" -no one knows why, but
perhaps it is to do with boxing up presents- putting them away, or perhaps
it is all the sport that takes place on that day. In our area we have Fox
hunting with hound dogs and horses.

ACTIVITY 2: RECEIVING THE ENGLISH CHRISTMAS CARDS

Then the moment to receive our Christmas cards arrived! It was a wonderful surprise, and children were delighted watching the English cards and reading the names of their new friends.

                                       


                         

ACTIVITY 1: MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We started this project explaining the children who are the new friends we have from England. Then we decided that we had to wish them a Merry Christmas, so they made some Christmas cards.
The children from the First course (3 years), as they can´t write, decorated the frame of a picture of them. Then, the teacher wrote their wishes in the back of the picture.
The children from de Second course (4 years), created some Christmas cards by their own with cardboard, and the they wrote their signature in a Christmas card written by the teacher.
Finally, the children from the Third course (5 years) wrote their own Christmas cards both in English and in Spanish, and they were decorated with colourful pictures.

              

OUR PROJECT

This project is based in typical songs and rhymes from Spain and from England. Spanish children are going to teach Spanish songs and rhymes to English children and viceversa. Besides, we are going to share several aspects of our cultures in order to know the differences of our traditions.
We want the children to know each other, using what they have learnt, and sharing their songs and experiences. We want them to realize that an L2 is not only a subject that you learn at school, but something useful in your daily life.
